Angela Merkel’s statement in the Greman parlament (11 th of March) is strange. Pastor’s daughter as she is, she obviously knows what Peter writes in his second letter and third chapter; the words how the former-world-civilization perished through the water (read the flood) but how the present world is destined to fire! It may be that the Zoroastrian features of a coming world of fire could form a background to this statement as Prof Em. Ewald Lövestam-saw it. One can however not deny that Chancellor Merkel has a point in this, Peter speaks of “elements”to be be dissolved ,that is what happens in a nuclear holocaust ,when atoms are split not only in combustible substances ,but in the matter as a whole. The word apocalyptic refers to the last book in the Bible, the Book of Revelation, with the wondrous goal:Jesus is coming back!
